Estimator & Project Manager

Requirements & Duties

  • Prospect for new business by visiting property managers and proposing new paving projects.
  • Make assigned or self-generated sales calls.
  • Accurately complete plan take-offs and estimating to prepare a bid package or written proposal for the customer.
  • Manage all aspects of jobs from close of sale through completion of work.
  • Assist with project operations management as needed.
  • Create precise estimates using your attention to detail and asphalt expertise.
  • Maintain relationships with key contacts in the construction industry.
  • Build a faithful client portfolio that generates repeat business and referrals.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role required.
  • Professional writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Lots of driving throughout Southern California; a clean DMV driving record is required.

  • Ability to read blueprints and specifications.
  • Efficiency and organization.
  • Tradeshow presentation knowledge and background.
  • Experience in estimating and operations management is a plus.

Compensation

  • Base salary with commission tied directly to the quantity and performance of projects sold. Benefits include a car allowance or company vehicle after a trial period and a company mobile phone.
Class A Driver

Job Description

  • Report to the Foreman at the yard and job site regarding day-to-day loads, tasks, materials, production and call-outs.
  • Inspect that the vehicle is safe to operate, including exterior, interior and tires.
  • Load and unload equipment, material and tools from trucks and trailers throughout the day.
  • Ensure loaded trailers and trucks are safely and properly secured.
  • Drive safely to and from job sites, material pick-ups and dump drop-offs.
  • Set up equipment and tools as needed on the job site (striping machines, rollers, tractors, skid steers, etc.).
  • Set up barricades with delineators, cones and caution tape to secure the job site.
  • Direct traffic around the secured job site for the safety of workers and the public.
  • Prepare and clean job sites with blowers and brooms; operate compressors, whackers and jumping jacks safely.

Requirements

  • CA DMV Class A license with a clean and insurable driving record.
  • Enrollment in and passing of the Random Drug Testing Program.
  • Physical ability to drive Class A vehicles and operate tools and equipment.
  • Ability to lift equipment onto and off trucks and trailers, and to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Fast reflexes and constant alertness around vehicles, hot asphalt and heavy equipment.
  • Availability Monday through Saturday, and occasionally nights or Sundays with notice.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and willingness to perform duties safely and professionally.
Equipment Operator / Laborer

Job Description

  • Report to the Foreman regarding day-to-day tasks, materials, production and call-outs, and to the Production Manager for time-off requests.
  • Report equipment and tool issues to the Shop Manager.
  • Inspect that equipment is safe to operate; load, unload and secure equipment, material and tools.
  • Set up and operate equipment safely on the job site.
  • Set up barricades and direct traffic for safety.
  • Prepare and clean job sites; shovel hot asphalt, rock base and dirt; spread seal coat with a squeegee.
  • Operate compressors, whackers and jumping-jacks with safety and precision.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in and passing of the Random Drug Testing Program.
  • Physical ability to drive and operate equipment, and to lift tools and equipment onto and off trucks.
  • Excellent hand-eye-foot coordination and good depth perception on safety-sensitive job sites.
  • Fast reflexes and constant alertness around hot asphalt and heavy equipment.
  • Availability Monday through Saturday, and occasionally nights or Sundays with notice.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and willingness to perform duties safely and professionally.
Crew Laborer

Job Description

  • Report to the Foreman regarding day-to-day tasks, materials, production and call-outs.
  • Load, unload and set up equipment and tools (striping machines, rakes, brooms, blowers, skid steers, etc.).
  • Set up barricades with delineators, cones and caution tape to secure the job site.
  • Direct traffic around the job site for the safety of workers and the public.
  • Prepare and clean job sites; shovel hot asphalt, rock base and dirt; spread seal coat with a squeegee.
  • Operate compressors, whackers and jumping-jacks with safety and precision.

Requirements

  • Physical ability to lift tools and equipment onto and off trucks and trailers, and to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Excellent hand-eye-foot coordination and good depth perception.
  • Fast reflexes and constant alertness around hot asphalt and heavy equipment.
  • Mechanical aptitude to operate tools, machinery and equipment.
  • Availability Monday through Saturday, and sometimes nights or Sundays with notice.
  • Consistent, reliable attendance and willingness to perform duties safely and professionally.
